Perhaps, if you had a 3G/4G network and a wired one, you could use the unmetered connection for most activities, or choose which network was the least expensive to do certain tasks. Since a couple of us have had some experience with related Windows 7 forum postings lately, it sounds like it could be a good thing. If anyone knows how to set this up, please advise.

It fixed my issue and hopefully will fix yours. I was able to change it back to auto negotiation after I rebooted the computer with it working. If you can, check that you actually have a good link to the router. If the problem started after connecting a new device to the network then you might want to check its network config and make sure that it's not conflicting with any thing. Windows 10 is complete shit when it comes to trying to figure out network issues sometimes.

After I upgraded my laptop from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10, my network connectivity was gone because all protocols were unchecked in the adapter settings. When I went to go turn them all back on, I got my network connection back, but I couldn't (and still can't) enable the Multiplexor protocol. When I select it and click 'Ok', a dialog informs me that my selections will cause it to be disabled: If I click No, it returns me to the 'Ethernet Properties' sheet with the multiplexor protocol disabled.

I have had this issue come up twice with two different desktops, one had an unplugged ethernet cable between the router and the switch the desktop was on. I'm not sure what caused the other one, but it was either a network loop, or packet collisions.
