Set.a.light 3D STUDIO is the world's first photo studio simulation, with which you can build lighting setups in advance on a PC, realistically simulate the expected picture results and print a set plan with the lighting diagram.

Real model and lights on the right If you show mood pictures to a model, they tend to compare themselves with the model on the photo. Most of the time you get messages like “ I am not that skinny” or “ where do we get that parachute from?” (don’t ask). If you provide 3D-rendered images, everything is abstract and the model done not want (or subconsciously motivated) to copy exactly what they see. They will try to create their own interpretation, which is a good thing and leads to very relaxed shooting. Here are some sample setups, along with the controls to make them.

So that gives me some nice possibilities. I can also see the use for beginners to learn some studio lighting. I remember exactly how I felt when I first stepped into a studio. Nothing made any sense and when the model came on set I was a nervous wreck because I had all this numbers and ratios in my head I do see a few more occasions where it might come in handy but I have to test it a bit more to be sure. I would be interested to see what others use it for or can even show some results. I have my next shooting this sunday and it will be the first real light test.

Sometimes I wonder why I can’t sleep that good. It happens often is a big shoot is on my plan for the next day, I ask myself “Is my light plan right, did I miss something, is there something to improve?”. As a child of the computerized generation, I was wondering if there is a software to simulate light setups. There are different ideas out there on the web, some use Blender to simulate light, others tried Cinema 4D. I’ve tried some of the provided project files, but well I am not a 3D-Guy, so I struggled with the UI of Blender and Cinama 4D. Paragon hard disk manager 16. The I found and some things changed. Set.a.light 3D has a very clean UI, is easy to use and performs as expected.
